A friend of mine just posted an RIP to Vonnegut on his AuthorsBookshop.com blog, here.

I hadn’t heard that he had passed. It’s really too bad. I guess the upside, on a personal level, is that now I will probably read more of his work. I always feel guilty pursuing someones body of work after they are dead… but sometimes it takes that for me to realize how underappreciative i was.

And, it appears to be human nature.

But at least, Marc’s personal level, he got to hear him speak. One of my own heros, Stanislaw Lem, died a little over a year ago. I didn’t even know he was still alive! I would have sent him a copy of my book, just for the hell of it.

Its sad when it’s an obituary that lets you know someone was still alive.
