THIS WEEK – we sit down with William P. Tandy, Owner of Baltimore’s Eight Stone Press, and publisher of the loosely Baltimore Based zine, “Smile Hon, Your In Baltimore” a regular publication that highlights Baltimore, Baltimore writers and Baltimore Themes. Smile Hon has been noted in Utne Reader several times, has been designated “Best Zine in Baltimore” by Baltimore Magazine, has gotten bumps from Baltimore City Paper, The Urbanite and the Sun’s Read Street Blog. It even elicited then Baltimore City Mayor, now Governer, Martin O’Malley to write to Tandy at one point to say, “Your books have caused a bit of a stir in my office . . . “

Tandy is also at the center of a peculiar writers movement in Baltimore – organizing readings and open mics around town, and seems to draw those writers who most thouroghly personify the things we love most about Baltiore – the character, charm, kitch and quirk that is our city… these are the writers that coalesce around William P. Tandy and Smile Hon. Thank God.
