Obviously, every author dreams of one thing – that major label publishing contract. But what if you got it, and found out it wasn’t everything everyone dreams of? What if, in fact, it turned out to be a pretty terrible experience – bad for you and bad for your book?
Then, what if you published your next book independently and found out it was… wonderful?
This week on the IndieBookMan Radio Show #11: There and Back Again: Surviving the Trad Pub Experience, we are going to explore the idea of surviving and recovering from having been published by a traditional press. I know, you may be thinking this is an absurd idea – but it turns out to be a very real issue. So, if you are dreaming of that Big Break with a major publishing house, then listen in this week… you may be surprised.
Helping us explore this experience will be Baltimore writer and social policy consultant Jack Kammer. His book “Good Will Toward Men: Women Talk Candidly About the Balance of Power Between the Sexes” was publish by St. Martins Press in 1994 while his current book, “Heroes of the Blue Sky Rebellion,” as well as several other titles, was published under his own imprint, Healthy Village Press. Jack is in a very unique position to discuss and compare with us both sides of the publishing world.
So join Jack and I this Wednesday, March 17th at 8:00PM at http://umbrellaradio.org for a thorough exploration of surviving and recovering from a major publishing contract in what we are calling, There and Back Again: Surviving the Trad Pub Experience.
