Tonight: DISTRIBUTION!

Tonight we are talking about Distribution. What is it, how it works – how it can work for indie books, and what are some alternatives. How has it changed over the past few years and in what direction is it going.

Here to talk about distribution with me tonight, Davida Breier.

Davida Breier is the Manager for Hopkins Fulfillment Services (HFS), the distribution division at Johns Hopkins University Press. She’s worked for National Book Network (NBN), where she was the Marketing Director and oversaw NBN Fusion, a digital publishing and distribution initiative. Prior to that, she was the Sales and Marketing Director for Biblio Distribution, managing over 500 independent presses. She is also a board member for the non-profit publisher, No Voice Unheard and is a contributing writer and photographer for their new book Ninety-Five: Meeting America’s Farmed Animals in Stories and Photographs.

Davida has been involved in small press since 1994 and has published 70 zines with two more planned for this summer.

Book of the Week:

If I gave you God’s phone number….
Searching for Spirituality in America

Author: Mare Cromwell
Publisher: Pamoon Press

If I gave you God’s phone number….Searching for Spirituality in America is a fascinating look at the breadth of religious and spiritual beliefs found in our culture. The book reveals a seven-year journey of interviews based on the question: “If I gave you God’s phone number, what would you do with it?” The author bares her personal growth throughout the book, exploring the concept of the Divine in and around us.

The book is framed by 21 interviews with people from all walks of life, all of whom give inspiring and sometimes controversial responses to the over-arching questions: “If I gave you God’s Number, what would you do with it?”

It was recognized in two national book competitions, and was an award finalist for the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year
